US-Balkans Business SummitOn Tuesday, December 7, 2010, Ambassador Avni Spahiu attended a "pre-summit" business event on the occasion of the first U.S. and the Western Balkans Business Summit to be held in the spring 2011 in Baltimore. The Summit will be organized by the U.S. state of Maryland, US-Balkans Business Alliance and the Port of Baltimore. Ambassadors of the Western Balkans countries accredited in Washington, Secretary of Maryland, John McDonough, representatives of the State Department, as well as around 40 American companies and organizations participated in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Avni Spahiu said we are dedicated to further deepening and strengthening the US-Kosovo economic relations. Welcoming the American businesses in Kosovo will remain our priority. He said the Government will remain focused in further improving the business climate in Kosovo.
The aim of this event was to provide American companies with detailed information on investment opportunities in the Western Balkans. The summit next year will bring together U.S. and Balkan companies, as well as high level political delegations from the region. President of the US-Balkans Business Alliance, Charles Dillon, claimed that some of the best companies from across America were present at the meeting to learn more about the opportunities offered by the region.
