Ambassador Malazogu met the Speaker of the House of Representatives of JapanTokyo, 11 July 2018 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Japan, HE Mr Leon Malazogu, met the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, HE Mr Tadamori Oshima.
The Speaker Oshima commended him for the 10th Anniversary of Declaration of Independence and underlined that next year when Kosovo and Japan celebrate the tenth anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations is a new momentum for deepening the increasingly closer relations between the two countries. The Speaker Oshima made a summary of relations between the two countries, including the exchange of high level visits from both sides, conducting continuous political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries, as well as he pointed out the establishment of the Japanese Initiative for Western Balkans under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Japan, HE Mr Shinzo Abe. He further related also to the successes of Kosovo in sports and wished Kosovo win more medals in the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
The Ambassador Malazogu thanked the Speaker Oshima for the support to Kosovo as of the end of the war, wherein “Japan has been one of the main partners of our country, despite the distance”. The Ambassador added that Kosovo highly appreciates the new initiative of the Prime Minister Abe for closer engagement to Western Balkans. In bilateral aspects, the Ambassador notified the Speaker Oshima that Kosovo shares its stance with Japan on international relations and Japan can rely on Kosovo as a long-term ally. The Ambassador informed him about the preparation activities for marking the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations, wherein he invited the Speaker Oshima to visit Kosovo, and he notified him about the establishment of the Kosovo-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Kosovo Assembly, and he also highlighted the importance of parliamentary exchanges between counterpart institutions of both states.
Mr Oshima was very interested in Kosovo traditions and the similarities between the two societies, which were presented by the Ambassador. Mr Oshima expressed his conviction that the values of Kosovo will help the region to overcome the difficulties it is facing with. In this meeting, the Ambassador Malazogu was accompanied by the diplomat Enis Xhemaili.
