Italian-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce Established

Rome, 16 November 2011 - The Italian-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce was established in the environments of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Rome. Various businessmen were attending this event, those with business running in Italy and also businessmen who had travelled from Kosovo for this very event. Besides Ambassador Prenkaj and the diplomatic staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo, present on this event were was also the Director for Commercial Affairs and Strategy within the MFA of the Republic of Kosovo, Agron Maloku.

It was a close cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Rome and Mr. Vito Gritani, director in charge and publisher of the magazine “Il Diplomatico” which enabled the successful coronation of this initiative launched initially on the event of the conference for the opportunities which Kosovo provides for foreign investments which was held on April of this year “Investing in Kosovo” in Bari, Italy.

At the opening of the work session of the initiating Assembly, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Rome, Albert Prenkaj, addressed the attendees with his remarks. In his word, after thanking the facilitators for the very well targeted initiative on the establishment of the Italian-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador Prenkaj, spoke among others, on the importance of the economic cooperation between Italy and Kosovo, the advantages resulting from this mutual collaboration, the current conditions and the circumstances which favour such a good climate of trade exchanges between our two friend countries.

“The Italian-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce would have to be transformed into a meeting point for all potential investors and businessmen operating or who will be operating in our two countries” emphasized Ambassador Prenkaj.

During the working session of the founding Assembly, the statute of this Chamber was adopted unanimously and steering bodies were elected: the Steering Council, the President, the Vice-President and the Secretary General. The seat of the Chamber of Commerce was decided to be in Rome.

Hamdi Muhameti was elected as the President of the Italian-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce, a businessmen conducting business in Rome for many years now. Naim Gacaferri was elected as Vice-President – a well known businessman exercising his business activity in Kosovo, whereas Pasquale Pepe, a businessman from the Region of Puglia was elected as Secretary General.

This Chamber’s mission shall consist in stimulating cooperation of businesses between the two countries and further deepening our cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the Assembly working session, the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Rome organized a reception in honouring participants.
