Kosovo and the EU sign agreement on participation in EU programme "COSME"Brussels, 19 December 2017 - Today, the first agreement on Kosovo's participation to EU programs was signed. Mr. Bajram Hasani, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Kosovo and Mrs. Lowri Evans, Director General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, signed an agreement on Kosovo's participation the "Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises - COSME" programme through which offfers numerous opportunities for Kosovo’s SMEs
COSME is the EU Enterprise Competitiveness and SME Competitiveness Program runing from 2014 to 2020, with a budget of 2.3 billion euros. COSME will support SMEs in the fields of facilitating access to finance, providing support for internationalization and access to markets, creating a favorable environment for competition and encouraging an entrepreneurial culture.
In addition to concrete benefits, this agreement is of special importance as well as an additional agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, thus further reinforcing mutual contractual relations.
Enterprises and SMEs in Kosovo will qualify to benefit from this program, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Kosovo will be the institution that will promote COSME program and will facilitate the implementation of the agreement.
